at the Steak House

女人到的時候，男人已經坐了一會。
男人肩上仍背著包包，
而女人坐下以後，牛排來了。
男人這時才站起來，
把身上的衣物脫下，放在隔壁椅上。




「妳那件衣服蠻好看的。」
看女人脫掉外套，男人這麼說。操著台語腔。
這顯然不是四十幾歲的男人會說的話，
或許也不是對老婆會關心的事。

「三百九十九塊…」
女人故意一個字一個字慢慢講，不知何故要強調這個價錢。
女人的體態有點豐腴，化了濃妝。
看得出來她一身特別裝扮過，並不只有衣服而已。

時間在下午五點，吃午餐嫌晚，吃晚餐略早。

他們坐在角落裡，面對著面。不時既熟悉又陌生的交談著。

對於在夜市牛排館的場合而言，兩人的慎重，幾乎讓這一刻也跟著不尋常起來。

When the woman finally shows up, the man already sat for awhile.
The man still carrying his bag.
The woman sat down, and the steaks came at the same time.
The man stoods up right away, took his bag and other stuff off,
placed them on the other chair.

"Your clothes looks good."
Saw the woman took off her jacket, the man said so.
It's obviously not the kind of 40 something man's talking,
and maybe it's also not the kind of subject you would talk to your wife.

"It costs three-hundred-and-ninty-nine dollars..."
For some unknown reason, the woman stressed on numbers.
She's full in form. Powder her face.
She dresses specially, not only her clothes.

The time is 5 P.M.
Not the time for lunch nor dinner.

They sat on the corner, face to face.
They talked near but far.

They are at the steak house which is located within the night market.
But their act formal making this hour unusually.
